"Teachers work with their colleagues to share strategies, collaborate, and plan for the success of individual students."
Artifact #1 2013-2014: Memberships in Local and National Organizations
I am a member of the Maryland Association for School Librarians (MASL) and the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). I follow them on Twitter and receive weekly email updates. In 2013, I attended their annual international conference in Philadelphia and plan on attending this years conference as it will again be held in Philadelphia. This is a great way to stay connected and up to date with what is happening outside of BCPS and to learn new ways to teach my students library media-related skills and knowledge.
Artifact #1 2014-2015: Joining Library Media Online Groups
I am a member of a couple online groups for library media specialists. All BCPS media specialists belong to a Destiny page on Groupsite. On Groupsite, we can find important information about Destiny and discuss various topics throughout the year that are related to Destiny. There is a
School Library Edmodo for secondary library media specialists. It is an easy way to connect with other middle & high school librarians in BCPS.

This academic year the Library Office created a Library Advisory Council to discuss concerns that BCPS Library Media Specialists have that affect our profession. I volunteered to be a member so that the voice of middle school LMS's can be heard. We discuss a wide range of topis from book fines to contract issues that are unique to the LMS community.
Artifact #2 2016-17: Digital Citizenship Lesson Curriculum Rewrite
I was asked, along with other LMS, to meet with a handful of BCPS 6th grade Language Arts teachers to take a look at the 6th grade LA curriculum and find logical places that we would allow for a natural fit of the digital citizenship lessons. It has been a great opportunity to work with my fellow LMS as well as meeting ans working with language arts teachers from across the county.
