4f: Showing Professionalism
"Teachers demonstrate their professionalism in both their service to students and to the profession."
Artifact #1 2013-2014: Student Clubs
Pictured above are the three school clubs that I sponsor each year as a service for students. These are not only fun activities but also promote reading and spelling.
Artifact #1 2014-2015: Attendance
I have demonstrated my professionalism in a variety of ways. I offer Service to Students by sponsoring two student book clubs (Graphic Novel Book Club and HMS Book Club). I participate in department, and leadership meetings as part of the Decision Making process for our building. The artifact I chose is a perfect attendance certificate I received.
Artifact #1 2015-2016: HMS Spelling Bee Sponsor
This year the winner of the school wide spelling bee won the Baltimore Bee and will compete in the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. She and I have continued to learn new words and practice spelling in preparation of this once in a life time opportunity.
Artifact #1 2016-17: Advocacy for Library Program via Twitter
A few years ago I started a Twitter account for the HMS Library as a way to tell our story and promote what we do. I tweet for both book clubs, the daily happenings of the Library and classes that are working in the library. Twitter has been a great way of letting people in the immediate community, the Library community, BCPS, and others outside of the system see all the great stuff we are doing.
